1. Susan Wojcicki – Youtube

A graduate in history and literature from Harvard University, Susan wanted to pursue a PhD in economics and work in academia but changed her stream of work when she became interested in technology. She is one of the best Women Tech CEOs She started by joining Google as their first ever marketing manager in 1999. She worked hard and made her way up to senior vice president of Advertising and Commerce.

Susan oversaw Google Video for a few years during which she proposed that they acquire Youtube, which was a small startup at that time. She handled the $1.65 billion purchase in 2006 following which, she oversaw the $3.1 billion purchase of DoubleClick the next year. In February 2014, Susan was appointed CEO of YouTube.

She has five children of her own and often speaks on subjects such as importance of balancing family and career life from her own experience. In 2015, she made to the list of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people.

2. Ginni Rometty – IBM

Ginni serves not only as the Women Tech CEOs  of IBM, but also Chairman and President. She is the first woman to have done so. Ginni has held various important roles at the company since 1991 and was appointed as the CEO and President in 2011.

She has been featuring in Fortune magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” for 10 years in a row, and was top on the list in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She was one of the “World’s 100 Most Powerful People” list by Forbes magazine in 2014.

3. Meg Whitman – Hewlett-Packard

Meg Whitman has served as an executive for numerous high-profile companies during her long and varied career. She was vice president of strategic planning at The Walt Disney Company in the 1980s. Meg worked for DreamWorks, Procter & Gamble, and Hasbro in the 1990s. She served as president and chief executive officer of eBay from 1998 to 2008.

Meg was named Women Tech CEO of Hewlett Packard on September 22, 2011. During her first year as CEO, she decided to retain and recommit the firm to the PC business that her predecessor wanted to discard.

She was featured at the 20th position in Forbes’ list of the 100 most powerful women in the world in 2014.

4. Marissa Mayer – CEO, Yahoo

Since 2012, Marissa has been the president and CEO of Yahoo! Before her empoyment at Yahoo, she worked as an executive and spokesperson at Google for over a decade.

Marissa was recognised on the Time 100 list in 2013. In 2014, Fortune Magazine’s ranked her sixth on its 40 under 40 list, She was also sixteenth on the same magazine’s list of most powerful businesswoman in the world.

5. Safra Catz – Oracle

Since 1999, Safra has been with Oracle Corporation. The company’s Board of Directors inducted her in 2001. In 2004, she became President of Oracle Corporation. She has also served as the company’s CFO from November 2005 to September 2008, and from April 2011 to the present. She became co-CEO, along with colleague Mark Hurd in September 2014.

Safra is a member of the Executive Council of TechNet, Director of PeopleSoft Inc., and Director of Stellent, Inc.
